Although the park already opened in April 2017, chances are that you haven’t visited it yet. Well, you should! Ferrari Land is more than 70,000m2 of excitement, adrenaline, and fun. It’s part of the PortAventura World, Spain’s most visited theme park. It’s close to Salou in the province of Tarragona on the Costa Daurada, and only about 1.5h from Barcelona and 50 minutes from Sitges (by car). The park is close to Reus airport (15min) and about an hour from Barcelona airport. There is also a train station for PortAventura with connections to Barcelona and to local destinations.
Ferrari Experience
Ferrari Land is all about the Ferrari experience, of course, with an Italian flair. However, you don’t need to be a Ferrari aficionado to enjoy this park. There are numerous rides and games, and a kids area which was just opened in 2018. Although part of the PortAventura World, it’s a separate park. The entrance is just next to PortAventura Park.
Ferrari Land Rides
Some of the rides at Ferrari Land include: Red Force, where you can feel acceleration speed from 0 to 180 km/h in 5 seconds, a free fall and a bounce-back ‘Thrill Towers”, the Maranello Grand Race, Racing Legends, a wraparound dome, and Flying Dreams, a journey inside of a Ferrari GT. The Flying Dreams has a minimum height of 1.30m to ride alone, and 1m if accompanied by an adult.
Best Family Hotels at PortAventura
It’s one of four official PortAventura Resorts. They have big family rooms to accommodate everybody with swimming pools, spa, etc. The nice thing is that the rates include unlimited access to the PortAventura Theme Park, and a 30% discount for the Costa Caribe Aquatic Park. Map
PortAventura Hotel El Paso – luxury
Even nicer than the PortAventura Resort, it has a wonderful outdoor swimming pool with a sunken pirate ship in the middle. You can get all-inclusive, but it’s optional. Map
PortAventura Lucy’s Mansion – luxury
Victorian style mansion, located inside of PortAventura Park. PortAventura park tickets are included. Lots of fun for kids as well as adults with swimming pools, wellness center, etc. Spacious triple or quadruple rooms for families. Food is great! Map
Blaumar Hotel, Salou – mid-range
If you don’t want to stay inside of PortAventura itself, we recommend this quiet hotel overlooking Levante Beach. It’s right on the beachfront and seaside promenade, and PortAventura is just a 5 minutes drive away. It has a children’s play area and the pool has a water slide. Lots of entertainment for adults and children. You won’t get bored. Map
PortAventura Colorado Creek – luxury
Opens in June 2019. 4-start hotel, brand new, but obviously, we haven’t stayed there yet. 1-day access to Ferrari Land included per stay and per person. Bookings are open.
