Event Details

The Flower Festival in Madeira is a colorful festival at the beginning of spring. During this festivity, you’ll be surrounded by colorful flowers and scents in various exciting ways.

This festival has been held for more than 50 years now and attracts many visitors from all around. On Saturday morning children come together to build a big wall of flowers called the ‘Wall of Hope’.

But the main event is the flower parade on Sunday.  This parade will be held in the small town of Funchal.  The town will be filled with color, scents, and music. Artists start designing the floats for months ahead, but the flowers will be added in the last days leading up to the parade. The parade is an incredible sight, the floats are accompanied by dancing children and women with dresses full of flowers.

To make the festival complete there will be flower exhibitions, floral carpets, and a flower market. This market does not only provide flowers but local delicacies as well.
