Event Details

The world’s largest Volksfest is a must-see for adults and kids. It’s a combination of a folk festival, funfair, and beer festival. It’s is held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany since 1810, and draws in about six million visitors every year.

The Oktoberfest has a lot to offer for families with children. Many know the event because of the large glasses of beer and party’s, but it is way more than that.

The history of the Oktoberfest starts in 1810 when King Ludwig I married Princess Therese. He decided to invite all the villagers to the fields surrounding the castle to celebrate this happy occasion. The festival since then has grown to be the biggest festival in the world and will be celebrated for 2 whole weeks.

The Oktoberfest is actually one of the best family events in Germany. There is a big fair, drink & food, and you can dress up! Parents and kids alike are invited to wear the traditional Lederhosen or Dirndl. Don’t forget to buy a beautifully decorated gingerbread heart to complete the experience.

The best day to visit Oktoberfest with children is Tuesday when rides and treats are offered at special prices.
