Event Details

Burning the Clocks, Brighton is a unique winter solstice event. You’ll be able to see local people with paper lanterns and a blazing bonfire at the beach of Brighton.

This celebration has been around since 1993 to celebrate the winter solstice. You might find yourself surrounded by local people with lanterns and costumes. These costumes, adorned with clock faces, represent the passing of time.

Take the opportunity to the shortest day of the year to reflect on who you are, where you’ve been, and where you want to go in the future. Think about the things you want to leave behind and leave them (mentally) at the bonfire at the end of the procession at the beach of Brighton.

Make sure to be there in time because there will be many people watching the lanterns and the bonfire at the beach. There will be some special lanterns designed by artists. They will start working on it months in advance.
