Miami Family Hotels – Tips and Recommendations

  • Miami is a sprawling city and, despite its large transit system, buses are often stuck in traffic. The best way to get around is to use the Metromer or Metrorail, although their routes are limited. Instead, use a ride-sharing service or Freebee, the free shuttle service that runs through various neighborhoods.
  • The Miami Trolley is also free but only runs in a few parts of the city. Check online for the routes and times and note that some routes are not available on Sunday. Be extra careful should you opt to drive and also while crossing the street on foot.
  • Miami Beach is a resort city that was built on a sandbar and is technically separate from the city of Miami. However, it is nearby, and many people come to Miami simply to visit the beaches here. The neighborhood of South Beach is to the south and runs about 2.5 miles. Many hotels and resorts are located here along with pristine beaches.
