There are many great hotels in Barcelona. We’ve picked a few hotels that we believe are especially well suited for families. In general, we recommend to stay in the following areas:
- Barri Gotic (Gothic Quarter) east of the Ramblas and El Born all the way to the Parc de la Ciutadella – best if you want to stay downtown, close to the sightseeing action;
- L’Eixample (especially L’Antiga Esquerra de l’Eixample), still downtown, but more the modern Barcelona;
- Gràcia, a nice traditional quarter of Barcelona, stay in a typical neighborhood;
- There are some other areas of Barcelona which are great, we picked some hotels below which are not necessarily within these areas.

Small boutique hotel in the Gothic Quarter but close to Port Vell and Passeig de Colom. The rooftop terrace with swimming pool is amazing. Right in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, across from Liceu and the Boqueria market. Historic 19th-century building with very modern rooms, free iPads, and free bicycles. Right on the Ramblas and not far from Plaça de Catalunya, the Citadines chain is known for its affordable apartments in top locations. Hotel Catalonia Park Güell, Gràcia, budget
There aren’t too many budget options for families in Barcelona. This is one of them. Although not centrally located, it is close to a metro station in the popular residential Gràcia district.
