The Sinj Alka knights tournament in Croatia has been around since 1715. So yes, you will almost literally step back in time.

This event originated to honor the victory over the Ottoman Turkish invaders. During the event the participants, or ‘Alkars’, try to aim at a ring at a height of 3.32 meters while riding their horse in full gallop.

Saidly you won’t be allowed to participate because this is a privilege for just a handful of people born in this region. But, no worries, witnessing this century-old tournament is a great day to spend your day in the area of Split.
