Barcelona Carnival (Carnaval de Barcelona)

Visiting Barcelona any time of a year is an excellent idea, but being there in a week before the fasting season of the Lent is even better because of the Barcelona Carnival.

Each year, starting on the “Fat Thursday” a week of fun and pleasure, tradition and national cuisine takes place in Barcelona. It lasts for a week.

During the Barcelona carnival week, you can enjoy the famous processions, called “ruas” in Spanish, The dance under the masks and tasting some famous Barcelonian specialties are also fun ways to spend a day. While you’re enjoying Carnival in Barcelona – also check out the Carnival in Sitges, which is only about 40min south of Barcelona, and can be easily accessed by train, bus, or car.
